A day dedicated to contributing to the open source compute ecosystem. Work with maintainers, fix bugs, add features, improve documentation.
November 27, 2026
9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
SCAI – Sorbonne Cluster for Artificial Intelligence
Free for all participants
Sprints are collaborative coding sessions where contributors work together on open source projects.
Test code, fix bugs, add features, improve documentation, and work directly with maintainers of major open source packages.
Learn from package authors, become a power user, understand the internals of the tools you use every day.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience level. Maintainers will help onboard new contributors.
Join one of these projects or propose your own. Topics will be updated as they're confirmed.
Work on scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, and related scientific computing packages.
JupyterLite, Pyodide, Emscripten-forge, and tools bringing scientific Python to the browser.
Contribute to plotting libraries, interactive visualization tools, and dashboard frameworks.
Work on Dask, Apache Arrow, parallel computing frameworks, and performance optimization tools.
JupyterLab extensions, Jupyter widgets, kernels, and the broader interactive computing ecosystem.
More topics will be added. Have a project you'd like to lead? Submit your proposal.
Not at all! Sprints are open to everyone, regardless of experience level. Many tasks don't require deep technical knowledge — improving documentation, writing tests, and fixing small bugs are all valuable contributions. Maintainers will be there to help you get started.
Bring your laptop with a development environment set up (Git, Python, and a text editor or IDE). Check the specific requirements for the project you want to contribute to beforehand. We'll have power outlets and WiFi available.
Browse the confirmed topics above and pick something that interests you. You can also switch between projects during the day. If you're new to sprinting, look for projects labeled as beginner-friendly.
No, there will not be any food or drinks provided. However, there are many places nearby for lunch.
Yes. All participants must follow the Compute! Paris Code of Conduct. We're committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone.
If you maintain an open source project and want to lead a sprint, contact us with details about your project, what contributors can work on, and any setup requirements.
The sprints will take place at SCAI, located in the heart of Sorbonne Université's campus in Paris.
